Silent Valley National Park
About This Place
One of the last undisturbed tracts of tropical evergreen forest in the world, this ecological hotspot was saved from a hydroelectric project by environmental activists. The park is named for the absence of cicadas and protects the Lion-tailed Macaque, Malabar Giant Squirrel, and over 1000 species of flowering plants.
